Counting Blessings – #001: What’s New With You? (Did you know God moves in different ways?)

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord. – Isaiah 55:8

While preparing for Chapter 5 of my story, I started thinking: "Ano pa bang kwento ang gusto kong i-share o gusto pang ipa-share ng Lord through me?" Then I realized, God is always in the details. Every small thing that has happened and is happening in my life truly matters.

Especially when God allows certain things to happen so I can learn something from them. But sometimes, I tend to generalize everything, and I overlook the other things God can also use to shape me into the person He created me to be.

Let me share with you some of these little things in my life right now that I believe God is using in a big way.

And here we go!

Let me welcome you, my DBS Family 🫢🏻

This is my spiritual family. We fellowship every Wednesday. 🫢🏻

Our group is also called the DBS group (Discovery Bible Study), but according to our dear Pastor, there are four phases in discipleship. Right now, we're in the second stage—the "Follow Me Group."

So, why DBS? Because our mentor and dear Pastor teaches us how to study the Word of God. It's a tool he learned in Bible school, and now he's sharing it with us. It helps us discover and dig deeper into the Word—especially the character of God. He also encourages us to use the DBS format for our personal devotions, and it has really helped me grow in my faith.

But the main goal is for us to share it with our small groups. We're committed to studying it for one year, and by the grace of God, we will be ready to share it with them.

I actually tried this once in my care group, and I can say it's really better done in person. The challenge with virtual meetings is the internet connection. So that was a thrilling (and slightly panicky) moment! We usually meet in person, but sometimes virtually due to scheduling conflicts and other things. #sharekolangulit

And honestly, it's such an exciting journey!

"There's a big difference between just reading the Word and actually reading, studying, and meditating on it." - his reminder to us.

I'm praising God for this opportunity where He teaches us through our pastor. The DBS group started around March or April of this year, 2025, and it has been such a great blessing, especially for those who want to be trained in leadership. I'm truly grateful to God because He uses these amazing people in my life to help me keep growing—not just in knowledge, but in learning how to live out the Word each day.

I remember a prayer I made to the Lord—around the 4th quarter of 2024 or the 1st quarter of 2025. I simply asked, if it's His will, to bless me with a godly community, even virtually. I was praying for an e-community where we could grow together in faith.

That prayer came back to me as I started writing this blog. I realized—wow, I really prayed for this. And though it turned out far from what I expected, because God really answers far beyond what we expect, what matters is that God brought these amazing people into my life, and He’s using them so we can study His Word together.

Sneak peek πŸ‘€ of one of my devotions using the Discovery Bible Study method. Please bear with my handwriting πŸ˜… and the slightly blurred photo!

Here's another one I found in Romans 8:1–2, using the CEV (Contemporary English Version). Personally, I prefer this translation as my main reading now, but I also read from other versions—one in Filipino, and two in English. Share ko lang. πŸ€—

But the real takeaway here? It's not just about reading—it's about learning and letting God speak to you through His Word.

Note to self: Don't just read it, live it. ✍🏻

#BackToJournaling✍🏻

Through this journey, I've come to know more about God. I've discovered that He is Sovereign. He is just. He hates greed. He is the Ruler of this world and Lord over all.

God blesses His people not just for personal gain, but for His greater purpose. Everything in this world belongs to Him. He is truly powerful. Indeed, He is God.

It's honestly exciting, but at the same time, it's also challenging—for me, at least.

What's the challenge?
It's me—and how I manage my time.
The struggle is real. πŸ˜…

But thank God, because I can only do this by His grace.
Only by His grace.

Still, I see this as a good sign. A sign that it's time to build a new habit, a new routine. That's why our mentor (our dear Pastor) always reminds us to repeat it daily—not to perfect it, but to adapt it.

To make it a lifestyle.

And if you're someone who's been looking for a godly community and still praying for it—I believe it's coming for you!

God knows exactly what you need. You need the kind of people who will help you grow closer to Him.

I pray that God will place the right people in your life—people who will walk with you, encourage you, and remind you of His Word.

And if you already have that kind of community—you need them!
Keep praying for them, too—that God would continue to use them to minister to you, to strengthen you, and for you to do the same for them. πŸ˜‰

I truly believe God will do the same for you as He did for me. :)
And I'm looking forward to meeting more godly people, if God wills it—because I know He knows exactly what I need. :)

peace. love. joy.
